Since 2005, Alternative Health Group (AHG) has been working to provide its patients with the highest quality in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. We have become the most trusted acupuncturists in the city of Chicago by the medical community. 

In 2005, Dr. Timothy Suh and his colleagues opened Alternative Health Group  with the goal of giving access to Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to patients at the onset of their disease and not at the end stages. They began with one clinic that encompassed all aspects of Oriental medicine that included acupuncture, herbal medicine, tai chi, tuina (Chinese manual therapy), massage therapy and yoga. 

In 2008 Alternative Health Group opens a second office in Elgin, IL at Provena - St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. 

In 2008, Dr. Suh saw the deficiency in insurance billing due to flaws in the provider system and worked with BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois to allow acupuncturist to bill through insurance

In 2010, Dr. Suh and AHG was asked to join Resurrection - St. Joseph hospital as part of their move to add acupuncture as part of their services for cancer patients. He closes the office in Elgin, IL.

In 2011, Dr. Suh and his associate Heidi Irwin joined Resurrection - St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago to treat oncology patients. 

In 2011, Dr. Suh became a member of the State of Illinois Acupuncture Board, helping to review state regulation on Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. In 2017 he became vice-chair.

In 2011, Dr. Suh worked with United Healthcare and Optum Health to help acupuncturist in the Midwest use inpatient evaluation and management codes.

In 2014, Dr. Suh and AHG began in-patient treatment at Resurrection - St. Joseph hospital known as the Diamond Headache Unit, joining a multi-disciplinary approach to treating migraine and other headache disorders. 

In 2015 and 2017, Dr. Suh began to bring on more acupuncture associates to Presence - St. Joseph Hospital as in-patient demand for acupuncture increased. 

In 2017, Dr. Suh became part of the Pain Management Taskforce at Presence-St. Joseph Hospital.

In 2018, AHG and Dr. Suh continue working at Amita-St. Joseph Hospital treating in and out patients, giving access to Acupuncture and Oritental Medicine to patients.
